  1. Trophy Gator Hunting Is What We Do!

  2. SGT fills all 10 of their 2007 tags with an impressive season average of 11-feet per gator!

  3. That’s 110-feet of meanness!

Southern Gator Trails hosted Troy Miller and his wife Bonnie during the opening week of the 2007 Florida Gator Season.  Troy and his wife bonnie live in  Hustontown, PA, and they own and operator Miller Creek Outfitting and The Great American Hunting Store.  After three days on the water and two tough nights of hunting, Troy’s Excalibur Crossbow and Muzzy Gator-Getter Kit connected on this brute.

This gator was 10 Feet 6 Inches long and weighed in at nearly 450lbs.  Congratulations Troy - WHAT A TROPHY!

Jason and Jeff connected on this massive river gator Sept. 25, 2007.  This brute measured 13ft.-1/2-inch in length and weighed an impressive 705lbs. on a certified cattle scale.  This is by far the biggest and best gator that the guys have ever landed.

This gator fought for over two-hours, but finally the SGT crew won out.  Gators that are this big are tricky and take special care.  Too much pressure can break a line, too little can allow the gator to get into a submerged tree-top or stump field.

After several attempts, it was apparent that this gator was not going to ride home in the boat, he was just too heavy, so we had to tow him nearly 2 miles up the river to the landing.

A special thanks to our buddy, Keith Godwin, for bringing his utility trailer down to load him up and take him to the walk-in cooler (Tara, Keith's wife, didn't seem too happy that we called at two-o’clock in the morning and woke everybody up, but we really don't think Keith minded too much).

100% Bonifide redneck and long-time friend, Robert Carter flexed a little southern steel on these two gators.

The larger gator is 11 feet, but was missing a portion of his tail.  The smaller gator measured 9ft. 6in. Both of these gators put up a great fight.

Two Gators - two days - two extremes!

The first hunt: The shortest hunt ever.  From start to finish less than 1 hour! WOW!

The second was the longest battle the SGT Crew has ever experienced.  This 12ft. 5in. brute proved to be the most aggressive and difficult gator SGT has ever had to deal with.  This hard-won battle ended after a four hour struggle and not a minute too soon, just 30 minutes before the end of legal hunting time!

Hunting on Tuesday night has been really good to the SGT Crew and this Tuesday night was no exception.  SGT has tagged three big gators, all over 11-feet,  this season on Tuesdays nights...

Tuesday, Oct. 9,  was 'Ladies' Night Out' and we connected on a great gator.  Ryan’s wife, Kelly and Jason's wife Kilee Rose, boarded the boat for an experience they won't soon forget.  We saw several alligators over 10-feet and finally pulled this 11ft. - 3in. brute into the boat. What a hunt!

The last three gator hunts proved to be the toughest that SGT has ever experienced.  We hunted in the rain, cold temperatures (as low as 42-degrees F), and on one particular night we got caught in fog so thick the guys in the back of the boat, couldn’t see the guys in the front!

But persistence paid off and the prizes were these three really nice gators.

First, Ryan was able to pass the camera over to Jason and then take a big 10ft. 11in. gator - his First!  Ryan sends out a BIG THANK YOU To Jason & Jeff for making this possible.

Our ninth gator was a team effort...The 10ft. 7in. gator felt Jeff’s  snatch hooks and then took off to rest on bottom - 44 Feet Deep!  It took Jeff over two hours to get this gator to the top and then Jason landed a well placed harpoon point deep in this gator’s neck.

The last gator of the season was a beautiful 11ft. 4in. lizard that had the head of a twelve footer.  Needless to say, we weren’t disappointed when it took only 55 minutes to haul this big boy into the boat!

2006 Season Hunts

During the 2006 season, the guys were able to secure four gator permits and filled all four with some nice gators.  The average this season was an inch under 10-feet.  A great season that helped start it all.
