Trophy Gator Hunting Is What We Do!
Season 2 has started off with a bang! During week one, Kilee Everett connected with an 11-foot 8-inch giant using the Excalibur Crossbow and Muzzy Gator Getter Kit. Week two was slowed down by Tropical Storm Fay and the 12-inches of rain that was dumped on our area, but the day after Fay cleared out of the area, we headed to the swamps. Our prize for fighting high-water and strong currents: a 12-foot 7-inch monster gator that weighed an estimated 600lbs.
All of this seasons hunts are being recorded in Hi-Definition just like we did last year. However, Ryan has invested in some very sophisticated lighting gear and we’re using two cameras on most of our hunts instead of just one. The 2008 Season 2 DVD will be more exciting than ever!
Having the right tools for any job is essential and Trophy Gator hunting is no exception. The guys have worked with the folks at Potter-Built Boat in Bristol, Florida to create a great Gator Hunting boat. The boat measure 16’ in length and is over 5-feet wide. It’s built of heavy-duty aluminum and has a Yamaha 90-horsepower outboard. The front deck sports over 20-square-feet of space. The perfect size area for a harpooner and cameraman!
Jason’s wife Kilee started the season off with a BANG! She connected with this 9-foot 2-inch gator in a big way! Using the Excalibur Exomax Crossbow and Muzzy Gator Getter Kit, Kilee showed the boys how to THWACK! a lizard.
She shot this gator a TWO YARDS! The Exomax slammed the Muzzy point completely through the gator. The fight was over before it started.
After loading the first gator of the season in the boat - Kilee said,”I guess it’s time for round two!” After hunting for hours and covering a lot of water, Kilee connected with this huge 11-foot 8-inch gator. Once again the Exomax Crossbow and Muzzy Gator Getter Kit calmed this big lizard down and the opening night of the 2008 gator season ending with SGT 2...Gators 0!
Congrats Kilee on two very impressive gators!
Southern Gator Trails was proud to host The Bone Collectors. Travis “T-Bone” Turner, Nick Mundt and Marc Womack along with Steve Finch and Michael Waddell are starting a new TV show on the Outdoor Channel called Bone Collectors and it will begin airing January 4, 2009. T-Bone, Nick and Marc came down and experienced the very best in gator hunting.
Most folks aren’t accustomed to seeing really big gators up close and personal and this 12-foot 7-inch 600-pounder would definitely be considered BIG! So when we pulled this ole big ‘un through down town Sneads, FL on a flatbed trailer...yeah, we turned some heads! Six or seven cars stopped in the middle of Hwy. 90 just to see what we’d caught. At least four of those cars made a U-Turn and followed us down the road. One lady flagged us down so she could pictures with her cell-phone to send to her family! The Jackson County Floridan got word of the capture and the next day we were on the FRONT PAGE!
On this hunt, Ryan passed the camera back to Jason and got to participate in the action first-hand. This 11-foot 10-inch gator’s length was a little bit of a surprise...We estimated that he was around 10-and-a-half feet long...make no mistake, we’re not complaining!
This gator had a short head and looong tail - not a common characteristic of most of the gators we normally hunt. The hunt was unique and Jason did a great job operating the camera!
As far as the title of this gallery, “Blind Stobbin’”...you’ll just have to wait until the Season 2 DVD is released!
This was a special hunt. Jeff and Jason have been watching this gator for about three years. SGT gave him the nickname “Smiley” because of the portion of his upper mouth that is missing. Ryan used the Excalibur Exomax Crossbow and the Muzzy Gator Getter Kit to connect with this 10-foot six-inch goliath.
T-Bone really wanted a big gator and we really wanted him to get a big gator...So we got our schedules together and arranged for T-Bone to make a second appearance with SGT. This time was very different than the “Bone Collector’s” first trip: NO FULL MOON! During the first night of T-Bone’s hunt, his Hoyt bow and Muzzy Gator Getter Kit connected with a great Lake Seminole Lizard!
10-feet 9-inches to be exact. Thanks Travis - What a hunt!
Jason and Jeff appeared on Dixie Outdoor Radio on Aug. 29, 2008. Host Billy Ferguson interviewed the guys about this gator season. Click on the link below to download the radio interview.
